A long-running French football specialist
Covers identifies James Eastham as a soccer betting writer with more than two decades of experience, based in France and the UK. His current work includes public columns and a separate newsletter. This is James Eastham, the football analyst, not other professionals with the same name.
His France Insights service page explains the change from French Football Picks for 2026–27. It offers free weekly analysis and paid match previews, with betting selections where relevant. The 11 August 2026 X announcement confirms the paid launch and Ligue 1 scope.
Different outlets, different records
Sporting Life columns, Betting Weekly appearances and newsletter selections should be assessed separately. A panel’s successful weekend is not the newsletter’s season record. Current subscription pricing was not confirmed; an expired introductory discount should not be presented as today’s fee.
Historical P/L is publicly visible
The 17 October 2025 newsletter reports 14 units staked and +2.32 units profit before commission, at one unit per pick. The 24 October update reports 16 units staked and +1.75 units. These are operator-reported snapshots, not an independently audited season total.
The second snapshot is lower despite more bets, so the inspected archive includes a losing interval. Neither snapshot establishes current returns, the full 2025–26 result or performance after the 2026–27 relaunch.
The current service description says P/L has been recorded for five seasons. We have not reconciled that full history. Exchange commission and any subscription fee also need accounting for when comparing a published total with a follower’s net return.
Named prices and publication times provide a starting point
The 17 October 2025 post identifies Betfair Exchange as its price source and timestamps the prices at 10:55am UK time. This is more useful than an undated winning screenshot, but does not establish how much money was available at those odds.
A September 2026 Sporting Life column names bookmakers, point stakes and prices for a player shot-on-target bet and a match draw. These are different markets and providers from the historical exchange-based newsletter selections.
No measured follower price-capture rate, account-restriction sample or current minimum-price policy was established. Exchange liquidity, commission, publication timing and the exact handicap line matter. Public columns are a way to assess his approach before considering the separately advertised paid newsletter.
Positive comments, with a small evidence base
Newsletter readers
Two visible comments beneath the 17 October 2025 post praise the insights and professionalism. They are brief reader reactions on the operator’s own publication, not independent long-term trials. Their paid subscription status and betting results have not been verified.
A dated X example
On 10 October 2026, Garan Jones praised that weekend’s output in reply to James’s Extra Time winning-picks recap. The parent names three Ligue 1 selections and the Betting Weekly show. This supports a narrow claim of positive audience feedback for that weekend, not a verified season return or a review of the paid newsletter.
The web, X and Reddit searches in this assessment did not establish a substantive independent long-term following trial. Several name matches concerned unrelated people and were excluded. His professional writing history is well documented; subscriber execution and the full historical ledger still need work.
